Cornhole Bags

How to choose the right cornhole bags

When choosing cornhole bags, there are a few different options to consider. Hopefully this article will explain a little more in depth the advantages and disadvantages between corn filled bags and plastic pellet filled bags.

Corn filled bags:
This is the most common type of cornhole bag. The reason for the kernel corn is for the dust. As the corn breaks down, it creates the dust that allows the bags to slide when they hit the board. If you have ever played with corn filled bags, then you know that the slide you get is optimal compared to plastic pellet filled bags. People swear by the dust and won't play with any other type of cornhole bag.

On the other hand the downside to cornhole bags filled with corn is that they are susceptible to weather. If a bag is left out it can start to mildew or worse swell up. At that point, they are worthless. Also, after years of play, the bags can start losing size and weight.

Weather Resistant Bags:
These cornhole bags are filled with plastic pellets. The advantage to these are the fact that they are resistant to moisture. Bugs also will sometimes ruin bags with  corn in them. Not with these types of cornhole bags. If you plan on playing cornhole at the beach or in any type of bad weather, then these are your bags of choice.

The downside to these are they don't feel the same as a bag filled with kernel corn. Once a bag starts to break down and generate dust, people swear it makes the game much more enjoyable. The dust on the palms, the way the bag hits the board, the feel of the throw; it's hard to argue for weather bags.

I hope this helps when it comes to choosing your bags. Cornhole is a great sport to play, so choose your bags carefully.
